Las Vegas

Today is our last day in Vegas so who knows when I will be able to add to the blog.
Yesterday (Friday here) we left here at 6am to visit Bryce Canyon. The Strip was still very busy, people sitting at poker machine. Who knows if they were there from the previous night or just early risers with nothing better to do. It was very easy to find our way onto the I-15 north. That means Interstate highway number 15. As we had wanted to get away early we decided to have breakfast along the way. We spotted a Denny's about 1 hour out of Vegas and from past experiences they were quick, filling and affordable. After waiting over 30 minutes for our order to appear it was cold...yuk. so we made our complaints and drove over to the McDonalds on the other side of the road. Now I know why Denny's are starting to disappear. McDonalds are the same where ever you are.
We arrived at Bryce Canyon about 1.45 Utah time (12.45 Nevada) and after having a quick lunch we caught the shuttle bus to see the canyon. Beautiful, but by the time we got to the last viewing spot it was raining. Perfect timing. We caught the bus back but then so did everyone else and it was like being in a sardine can. We then travelled down to the Zion National Park. We thought the Grand Canyon was beautiful but the Zion is way better. Here you drive down through it, at one stage you drive through a mile long tunnel. It is pitch black in there with only an occasional glimpse of light as you pass a window. This tunnel was made in the 1920-30s and was quite a feat. Well worth it as the view on the other side of the mountain is spectacular.
It was 10.30pm by the time we made it back to Vegas. We managed to take over 1000 photos during the day, only the best will make it to my album. Digital cameras are great.
